Before Paula Abdul announced that she would leave American Idol, the only ones who did not have one single reason to worry were host Ryan Seacrest, who had just renewed his contract, and judge Simon Cowell, who would stay on Idol as long as Idol stood on TV, it was being said. Reports have now emerged saying that one of the conditions Fox agreed to in order to have Cowell on Idol was to import British talent competition X Factor, MTV says, citing the Hollywood Reporter. Cowell, it seems, has long been trying to bring X Factor to the US to very little success so far. Although it is one of the most popular shows of its kind back home in the UK, in the US, American Idol is the leader of the market.
