Botox continues to be one of the most widely used wrinkle treatments, but, as women all over must know by now, this is not all it’s good for. Botox can also be used to treat excessive sweating on such special occasions as the Oscars night or some other awards ceremony, as many A-listers already do. As of late, it has been revealed that Botox injections can also be given with the result of a mild breast lift, WebMD informs. Injected into the muscle, Botox can lead to a mild lift in the bust with the obvious advantage that it leaves no scarring and is not painful, as opposed to surgical procedures that have the same result. On the downside, the use of Botox for this purpose has not been approved yet â€" which means it can have consequences that have not been properly analyzed yet â€" and some surgeons are still skeptical about whether this is really the best way to go to correct a flaw. For starters, the mild lift lasts for as long as Botox lasts before breaking down an!
d being assimilated in the body, that is, roughly three months. “A Botox breast lift involves injecting Botox into the pectoralis minor chest muscle, which allows the back muscles to compensate by lifting the breast, explains Karol Gutowski, MD, the head of the division of plastic surgery at North Shore University Health Syst...

Central Michigan University professor Axel Mellinger has recently compiled a new groundbreaking image of the night sky, with the Milky Way at its center, by stitching up more than 3,000 individual photographs. The high-resolution panoramic view, presented in an interactive manner here, can be used by professional and amateur astronomers alike, and shows known features of our galaxies in great detail. The creation process for the new image is described in the November issue of the respected journal Publications of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific. “This panorama image shows stars 1,000 times fainter than the human eye can see, as well as hundreds of galaxies, star clusters and nebulae,” Mellinger reveals, adding that his panorama is fitted for both scientific and educational purposes. He says that the real work on the project started just after the thousands of pictures he needed were collected, from dark-sky locations in South Africa, Texas and Michigan. Mellin!
ger traveled more than 26,000 miles in order to capture all the images he needed for a complete panorama. “Due to artificial light pollution, natural air glow, as well as sunlight scattered by dust in our solar system, it is virtually impossible to take a wide-field astronomical photograph that has a perfectly uniform background,...

As some of you already know, we partnered up with IGG for the distribution of Newbie Packs for 2029 Online (a skill-based sci-fi MMORPG). The promotion lasted for three weeks, starting October 1st and ending on October 18th. For those who missed out on the event, besides sending equipment and items to help a beginner make his/her way in the game, IGG also threw in three Amazon Gift Cards, each valued at $100, to spend on whatever they want. Well, the lucky winners have been selected randomly out of all those who registered for 2029 Online newbie pack and here they are: “CosminDm88,” “domination4” and “hannakish.” They each received an Amazon Gift Card worth $100. Not too shabby and congratulations. For everything to be in order, the lucky winners were notified through an email message and had to confirm their prize within one week from the announcement of the results, which they did. Although this was a promotion for the closed beta of the game and some player!
s have pushed to higher levels with the aid of the newbie pack, the game can still be played and with no help at all it is even more challenging. You'll be able to rise on your own in this futuristic environment and earn your skills to the extent of building up the reputation of “raider of unique skill.”

Brutal Legend has been bound to receive an expansion pack for quite a while now, but details regarding it have not escaped the mouths of the officials. That has changed, as the downloadable-content pack has finally been revealed to the world. Tears of the Hextadon will become available for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on November 5, but, as always, the pack will receive different offers for each release. Hextadon will be available on Xbox Live for 400 Microsoft points, while the PlayStation Network will give it for free until November 19. After that, the DLC will cost £3.99. Brutal Legend Tears of the Hextadon will add two new maps to the multiplayer fights and all those that downloaded the pack will also get a new weapon, the Blade of Ormagöden. The first map, Circle of Tears, will have players go around in circles trying to bash each other's skulls in, as the vile waters of the land have carved bare rocks and transformed the landscape. Former tennis champ Andre Agassi is coming out with a memoir and, in true memoir fashion, “Open” is not devoid of shocking revelations. Speaking of the ‘90s, Agassi writes of a troubled period on a personal level, problems that eventually pushed him to try crystal meth that, in turn, caused him serious issues in his career. He was not an addict, but he did use the drug to get away from whatever it was that was troubling him, he tells People magazine. At a time when his relationship to Hollywood actress Brooke Shields was going downhill, Agassi was first introduced to crystal meth by one of his assistants at the moment, whom he only refers to as Slim. Slim liked to do drugs and occasionally to deal them as well, so, when he approached Andre one night with an offer, he chose not to refuse it. Shortly afterwards, he further says in the book, he tested positive during a routine checkup with the Association of Tennis Professionals, and for the first time ever he had to l!

A new scientific study is the first to demonstrate that mothers and daughters look just like each other, expression- and appearance-wise, when they pass a certain age. The investigation reveals that, at least around the eyes, the patterns in which the skin gets saggy, wrinkled, thin, and less elastic are exactly the same for both senior women and their daughters. This is the first research to draw this conclusion scientifically, and not just infer it in a common setting, such as a family dinner, PhysOrg reports. The science team was made up of plastic surgeons from the Loma Linda University Medical Center, in California. The experts noted that the similarities became really obvious when the daughters began to reach their mid 30s. Ten similar-looking mother/daughter pairs, aged from 19 to 90, were analyzed in the new investigation, the team reports. Dr. Matthew Camp, one of the surgeons in the science team, says that most of the studies previously conducted on the issue we!

The tear ducts and the lower eyelids are the first regions of the face in which similarities between the two generations begin to become visible. Most people know that being in the heat can be bad for their health, and that is why they usually drink water before they go outside in the Sun, and take some with them as well. But have you ever met a person that drinks about seven liters of water before going out? Of course not, because it's nearly impossible. However, this is how a starfish goes about protecting itself from the heat. Just before it goes out into the low tide, the small creature pumps itself up with cold seawater, which allows it to control and regulate its body temperature, the BBC News reports. In spite of the highly effective cooling mechanism, researchers say that the starfish could be endangered by a relentless foe â€" global warming. As the surface temperatures of the oceans increase, the aquatic creatures will need to make more and more efforts to remain cool. This will translate into much less energy going into other processes, such as digestion and respiration, which, in turn, could have devast!

The sea star (Pisaster ochraceus), also known as the ochre starfish, is indigenous to the intertidal regions located along the Pacific North American coastline. One particularity of this species is that, at low tide, it gets trapped on dry land, under intense sunlight, and needs to wait for the water to ...

Addressing an audience of 14,000, the widow revealed that knowing beforehand of the “death sentence” (Swayze battled pancreatic cancer for approximately two years) did not make things better, in the sense that she was not even remotely prepared for the pain that came when he passed away. Nothing could prepare you for that, Niemi said. “I thought during the 22 months of my husband’s illness that it gave me all this time to get used to !

About the time I got half-way through Risen, I started thinking less and less about what I was doing and seemed very captivated by the things I might be able to do. I chose to join sides with Don Esteban's Faction and developed as a pilfering, two-handed sword warrior. OK, maybe “pilfering” isn't the best chosen word, since I robbed every house, man, woman and child on the island of Faranga. Even the holy Monastery was in a shambles of poverty after I left. The main reason I chose a two-handed weapon approach over the one-handed and shield version was that, with the shield, the combat was a bit too tedious. First, the one-handed weapons, obviously, do less damage, and, with the master-sword-wielder that every hostile human NPC turned out to be, battles dragged out for ever. I would sit safely behind my raised shield and tried to match my attacks to catch the opening they left with theirs, but would rarely manage to beat their incredibly sharp reflexes and almost instant!
parries. But the promises of the hefty axes smashing through enemy defenses really made me wonder about just how fun it would be to finally wipe the smirk off their face and do away with their kind. I didn't even try to make a mix-build of sword and axes, since all the interesting abilities came later on in the mastery and to divide my learning point would h...

According to a new scientific study conducted in the United Kingdom, slightly less than half of Primary 7 students (aged ten to 11) have social-media accounts, on sites such as Bebo, Facebook, MySpace, Twitter or Hi5. Approximately 48 percent of the 3,657 children that were analyzed, as part of the Kids’ Life and Times Survey, had accounts on such websites, even though some of the online services explicitly said that they were not suitable for children below the age of 13, AlphaGalileo reports. The new study was conducted by experts at Queen’s University Belfast and the University of Ulster, on children in Northern Ireland. The joint initiative that the two universities have, called ARK, performs a similar survey each year, in an attempt to keep track of trends concerning children in the online environment. There are numerous factors that are being analyzed during these surveys, including the amount of bullying the children are subjected to, the TV programs they watch!
, and how they like to spend their free time. The experiences they have at school are among the subjects as well. “The public and the media often debate topical and controversial issues relating to children but we rarely ask the children themselves what they think about these things. --------
For the first time, geologists and other experts are able to show precisely how volcanoes were able to bring forth a period of sustained global cooling more than 450 million years ago. Ironically, it was precisely these volcanoes that first triggered a period of global warming during these times, by erupting almost non-stop. When they did stop, the planet's climate was thrown off-balance, and the glaciers started advancing. Ohio State University (OSU) Associate Professor Matthew Saltzman believes that the find helps shed some light on the importance of carbon in the planet's crust, ScienceDaily reports. Volcanoes in the Iapetus Ocean, the precursor of the Atlantic Ocean, are believed to be the most to blame for the giant Ice Age that swept over the planet some 450 million years ago. “Our model shows that these Atlantic volcanoes were spewing carbon into the atmosphere at the same time the Appalachians were removing it. For nearly ten million years, the climate was at a !
stalemate. Then the eruptions abruptly stopped, and atmospheric carbon levels fell well below what they were in the time before volcanism. That kicked off the ice age,” Saltzman explains. The Appalachian Mountains were rising out of the crust for the first time, when these eruptions happened. The exposed layers of rocks that were wit...

The NASA MErcury Surface, Space ENvironment, GEochemistry and Ranging (MESSENGER) probe has just recently performed its third flyby of Mercury, and it is currently heading on a course that will allow it to be captured in the planet's orbit in early 2011. As it passed close to the planet after one of its third approaches, the spacecraft's instruments started recording a large number of high-energy solar neutrons, which is amazing, considering that this is the first time these particles have been studied within a distance range smaller than one astronomical unit (AU) from the Sun, Space Fellowship reports. The solar flare was detected by the spacecraft on December 31, 2007, as it was cruising about half of one AU away from the Sun. The readings obtained by the spectrometers aboard the probe helped astronomers finally figure out why some coronal mass ejections produced little to no energetic protons, whereas others did. “What [the observations are] telling us is that at le!
ast some moderate-sized flares continuously produce high-energy neutrons in the solar corona. From this fact, we inferred the continuous production of protons in the 30-to-100-MeV (million electron volt) range due to the flare,” Planetary Science Institute scientist William C. Feldman says. “So the important results are that perh...

The DSi is a true success for Nintendo, the company that has designed it and offers the biggest array of games on it, but it seems that there are more improvements that can be made to the handheld and that the hardware manufacturer is planning to release an updated device that will feature bigger screens, designed to offer a better gaming experience. The rumor comes courtesy of the Japanese financial publication Nikkei, which says that, “Nintendo is planning to release a new product in its recently-debuted DSi line within the year” with the article implying that the main reason behind the move is to directly compete with both the PlayStation Portable from Sony and the iPhone from Apple. The two upgraded screens, one of which will remain tactile, are set to approach 4 inches, an increase from the current 3.8. Nikkei is saying that the new handheld device from Nintendo is set to be priced at the same level as the current DSi, which is worth about 18,9000 Yen and that th!

They usually say tabloids are nothing but clean, somewhat harmless fun that allows us, the public, to indulge in some good gossip without consequences. However, speaking strictly from a health perspective, tabloids are anything but harmless, worried doctors say in a new survey cited by OnMedica News, because they spread panic among patients and give them one more reason to fret about. Experts are constantly faced with situations in which they have to offer constant reassurances to patients who shouldn’t be worried in the first place, just because they happened to read a tabloid story. This happened, for instance, with Michael Jackson’s accidental death from a lethal dose of Propofol, but also following movies like “Awake,” in which the lead character remains conscious under anesthesia. “Eight out of ten (84%) doctors say the public are more susceptible to health scares these days according to the poll published in BMA News. The BMA News Doctors Decide snapshot !

Determining if even basic life exists on any other planet or moon in the solar system, and especially on Mars, is the main goal of space exploration today. But investigating this essential question is not easy, when considering that the answers lie millions of kilometers away from our planet. Rovers, landers and orbiters are the main instruments we have of discovering traces of microorganisms on the Red Planet, but getting them there is a highly complex process, Space Fellowship reports. The planet's atmosphere is the first obstacle for exploration robots, but it was overcome by several instruments until now, especially the ones sent by NASA. The European Space Agency (ESA) is planning to send a rover to the surface of Mars as well, so it needs to be able to counteract all the negative effects that an atmospheric reentry may have on its billion-euro robot. In order to assess the threats, it is using a unique facility at the German Aerospace Center, which can simulate the c!

Nadya Suleman, also known to the public as OctoMom, gave birth to octuplets in January this year. The eight newborns, together with the other six young children Suleman has at home, have not stopped her, though, from getting back to her pre-pregnancy figure. What’s more, she didn’t even resort to the help of plastic surgery, which is why she can now boast of a weight loss of 145 pounds by will power alone, as she tells Us Magazine in a recent interview. When she was pregnant with octuplets, Suleman weighed 270 pounds, she reveals. After giving birth, she automatically dropped 40 pounds as the babies were taken out. Suleman also relies on what she likes to call her “skinny genes” to revert back to shape after delivering a baby, but, after the octuplets, it became clear that she also needed to do something else in this sense. So, she started working out. The problem with a mother of 14, all kids under eight, is that she has little time for herself as they are a ha!

Desperate to find some time to work out, she decided late-night sessions at the gym were the only way possible, so she now goes to break a sweat for 90 minutes three times a week, precisely at midnight. Smokers who are trying to kick the habit often find themselves in a position where they have to deal with the so-called triggers. These can be smoking-related images in the media, other smokers, or habits usually associated with smoking (a cup of coffee, catching up with an old friend, and so on and so forth). A new study comes to show that these triggers can be avoided and cravings curbed with some exercise, as Eurekalert can confirm. A bout of moderate-intensity exercise seems to be able to do that which the nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) only does in part: reduce cravings and eliminate temptation. Moreover, the study has learned, it does so by going straight to the root of the problem by making the cigarette less attractive for the smoker who’s trying to quit. Participants in the study â€" all moderately heavy smokers who abstained for 15 hours before the test â€" have all showed less attraction towards smoking-related images after a mild bout of exercise. “W!

According to a recent report from In-Stat, the smartphone market will be influenced by the battle between different mobile operating systems available on handsets today. However, the research firm also says that the competition will soon see a shift from the OS to the functionality and user experience that come along with any mobile phone. Features like touchscreen displays, high camera resolution and Wi-Fi connectivity are only some examples of what users will be more interested in. The research firm also states that the smartphone OS market as we know it might change in the future. Symbian is the leader on all charts, and it should remain the same over the next few years, yet In-Stat says that the shipments of Symbian-based handsets is expected to drop in 2014. While Symbian will remain dominant on a rather short term, the iPhone shipments are expected to rise quite fast, the research firm states. “In-Stat believes new OSs such as Android and Maemo will cut away at !

NeocoreGames has announced that it plans to release the English version of its King Arthur video game on November 12 through a variety of yet-unnamed digital-distribution channels. A boxed copy of the title is set to arrive in stores later in the year. It's interesting to see the developer offering the title as a download initially, but it makes sense for a game that comes from a lesser known company that might have some trouble securing publishing deals for all the territories. NeocoreGames, which previously worked on Crusaders: Thy Kingdom Come, is describing King Arthur as being a role-playing wargame. The player gets to be the legendary king of ancient Britain and their mission is to develop his kingdom and actually conquer the whole island, which is inhabited by magical creatures, rebellious leaders and unknown dangers. Cosmetic surgeons are again warning women of the risks inherent to using do-it-yourself beauty kits, with lasers for hair removal in particular. There is absolutely no chance such kits would return the same results as the machines used in specialized clinics, while women also have to think that they might actually be putting themselves at risk, surgeon Barry DiBernardo tells Wired Science, following an American Society of Plastic Surgeons conference. The problem with the many products now available on the market, either in specialized stores or online, is that few come with proper accreditation and approval. What this is to say is that countless of them are illegal and have not received the FDA stamp of approval for risks and results, DiBernardo says. This is all the more troubling as the laser market is estimated to explode in the following months, thus surpassing that of traditional hair-removal products. “We have to make sure that the patients are getting good, saf!
