US mobile phone carrier AT&T announced on Thursday that it made improvements to its wireless coverage at Cowboys Stadium. According to the company, the enhancements to its network have been made through the deployment of a new Distributed Antenna System (DAS), as well as through the rollout of new cell sites in the area. “This will provide our customers with an enhanced mobile experience at Cowboys Stadium as they enjoy sporting events and concerts,†said Adam Vital, vice president and general manager, AT&T North Texas. “We are committed to providing superior coverage on AT&T’s network for all fans who spend time at this spectacular new venue.†The new DAS installed at Cowboys Stadium includes a number of more than 500 antennas that have been distributed through the stadium. As usual, we've downloaded a copy of it in order to keep you up-to-date with the latest changes in the Ubuntu 9.10 development. What's new in Ubuntu 9.10 Alpha 6? Well... first of all, there is no more Usplash (the boot splash screen). So it appears the the team has successfully managed to fulfill their initial plans for making a faster startup where a boot screen is no longer necessary. Therefore, when Ubuntu will start, you will see a black screen, after the BIOS POST, followed by the X-based splash screen (xsplash) that we've presented a few weeks ago. If the login manager is enabled, after login... xsplash will appear again (this time, loading the desktop in the background). Secondly, the Ubuntu Software Store application is now present and it is available under the System menu!

Sony must be quite pleased with its newest MMO, Free Realms. The game was only launched on the PC in April of this year and John Smedley, who is the president of Sony Online Entertainment, has announced that there are already five million players who are engaged with the free-to-play, micro-transaction-based video game. The number was reached at some point in August, but it has only been made public at the Austin Game Developer's Conference. The game seemed quite successful since its release, with one million users interested in it in the first 18 days. Reasons for the performance are the cartoon-like graphics, which appeal to a wide array of possible players, the low system requirements and the variety of content offered. Players are able to pick out from a variety of classes and can even choose to enjoy the entire experience without engaging in any violent act. Sony also heavily regulates the interactions between players, making sure that the atmosphere is non-confrontat!
