--------
The latest electronic icons to be drafted into DJ Hero seem to be French Daft Punk. Activision is saying that they will be featured in the upcoming DJing videogame with 11 mash ups put together exclusively for the title, using material taken from bands like Queen, No Doubt and Young MC. The band is also bringing to the game its trademark helmeted appearances and some of its complex show venues.Daft Punk become well known after the release of Da Funk, way back in 1995, and have since then created music of the highest quality. They have also designed very complex stage shows, involving images as well as sounds, and they have taken to appearing as various robotic alter egos. The two people who make up Daft Punk, Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter, rarely give interviews and have now for the first time agreed to appear in a videogame. The contributions made by Daft Punk will enhance the profile of DJ Hero, which is already known to contain the work of artist like !
DJ Jazzy Jeff, Eminem and Jay-Z (who went so far as to contribute with tracks created specifically for the game), DJ Shadow, Tiesto and Grandmaster Flash. Activision is making a very clear effort to attract as many varied successful artist as possible in its attempt to establish DJ Hero as a spin off that has the potential to become as popular as its ...

--------
According to a new study conducted by researchers in the United States, showering can make you sick. The new research, which focused on how clean shower heads were, determined that at least a third of them were infected with dangerous bacteria that could cause serious medical conditions. The largest threat comes from the Mycobacterium avium bacteria, which can be found at these locations in 100 times higher concentrations than in any other spot in a house, the BBC News reports. The reason why they are so dangerous is because they tend to form biofilms on the inner walls of the shower head, which are tremendously difficult to get rid of. The investigation, which was published in the latest issue of the scientific journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), also shows that this may be one of the underlying causes why more and more people have started getting infected with the microorganisms in recent years. The experts believe that people's tendencies of !
taking more showers instead of baths could have something to do with this. The science team, from the University of Colorado in Boulder (UCB), says that, when water is made to run through the shower heads, it takes with it bacteria from the biofilm, which can easily remain suspended in the air. They are then inhaled to the deepest recesses of...

Kelly is a contestant on the upcoming season of Dancing With The Stars and, as rehearsals progress, so is her body getting in an ever more admirable shape. As of now, the television star and occasional singer has managed to lose about 7kg in just three weeks, and she did not even do anything in particular for it. That is not to say she just laid on her couch, but rather that she did not follow a specific diet â€" just a rigorous workout routine that consisted of many hours of dance rehearsals and some Pilates classes. “I’ve almost lost a full stone already, I’m so excited! For a long time, videogame publishers have been rallying against the practice of selling used games in specialty stores, saying that they undermine the industry by limiting the amount of money developers and publishers get from the public.Recently, special offers have appeared, which can only be taken advantage off by the first buyer of a game, like vouchers for a piece of downloadable content released as soon as a game is out. But it seems that publishers are quick to forget the positive effects that used games have on their business.Marc Mondhaschen is the director of Used Games at specialist retailer Game Crazy and he talked to IGN about the way his company does business and about the impact of used games. He stated that “We did a study not too long ago for a very large vendor who we managed to figure out for them 20 percent of their sales inside the first 28 days were paid for with trade dollars. When he died in June this year, Michael Jackson had at least 100 complete songs in his possession and was working on two brand-new albums, reports in the media say. The Michael Jackson Estate has not yet confirmed any of this, but a new rumor suggests fans will hear new music from the King of Pop in just days, as producers are rushing to finish a song to promote the “This Is It” docu-film, the Mirror says. According to the British tabloid, Michael laid down the vocals for the track months before his death and all that’s left now for producers to do is to make sure they finish it for release. They do face one massive challenge, though, the tab claims, since the track could leak at any minute if they’re not careful about who hears it, which is why they’ve hired several bodyguards to stand at the door of the recording studio almost at all times. “A secret Michael Jackson single is being produced... and set to be a huge hit. [Jackson] recorded the song for releas!

It was shelved after the 50-year-old singer’s death in June but now producers in Los Angeles have remixed the vocals with an orchestral accompaniment.” the Mirror writes of the track. HTTP:: Google Fast Flip Released for iPhone and Android Devices
--------
Earlier today, Google unveiled a new, experimental project aimed at making it easier for users to read and find new news stories by allowing them to 'flip' through articles with an intuitive and fast interface. While the idea may be interesting enough, the implementation left somewhat to be desired. But, along with the regular website, Google Fast Flip was also launched for iPhone and Android-powered mobile phones for which it may be much better suited. “With this webapp you can literally flip through stories with the swipe of your finger. To get more information or view the entire article, simply tap on the screen. You can browse headlines and popular articles, and view trending topics. Searching for a specific topic lets you make your own 'magazine.' Fast Flip makes sharing articles easy as well. To send an article to someone, simply tap on the 'Email' link in the upper right,” Steve Kanefsky, a Google Mobile software engineer, wrote on the company's mobile blog. !
For the mobile version, the basic functionality is the same, users are presented with a list of articles to choose from, as well as with several browsing options based on the source, how popular they are or on categories. After they choose an article, they are presented with a screenshot of it with unnecessary bloat re...

Rihanna is currently working on a new studio album that will be released sometime this year, or perhaps early in 2010, no one can tell for sure. What is certain so far, though, is that it will bring to the table a much edgier and angrier sound, as we also reported a while back, Ne-Yo and Akon, just two of the many collaborators Rihanna has chosen for it, say for E! Online. Chris Brown chose to speak about the February 8 incident, when he lashed out at his then-Girlfriend Rihanna and beat her almost unconscious, via the media in a series of televised interviews and press statements. Rihanna, on the other hand, will presumably go on the artistic route, opting for her music as a means of venting the frustration and pent-up anger, the E! report says. From what Ne-Yo and Akon are willing to reveal, this certainly seems to be the case. “Expect an edgier, almost angrier Rihanna on this one. Rihanna says some things on this album that you’ve never heard her say before.” N!

--------
The orange-brownish-colored atmosphere of Saturn's largest moon, Titan, surrounds the only known solar system bodies, except Venus and Earth, that have a solid surface and thick atmosphere. The hazy layer of gas covering the large rock features some peculiar reactions, as evidenced by the fact that the natural satellite itself supports lakes of liquid hydrocarbons on its surface. Experts from the University of Hawaii in Manoa (UHM) took it upon themselves to unravel the chemical evolution of Titan's atmosphere, in a setup that allowed for consequences of a single collision between molecules to be followed. Led by physical chemist Ralf Kaiser, the team utilized crossed molecular beams for the job. The team learned that photodissociation was one of the most important processes going on in the moon's atmosphere. This is the process through which chemical compounds are broken down by photons in light waves. For instance, the experts found, UV radiations broke down acetylene, an!
d created the ethynyl radical. This radical then collides with a diacetylene molecule, and forms triacetylene, one of the weird substances in Titan's heavy atmosphere. “Surprisingly, the photochemical models show inconsistent mechanisms for the production of polyynes,” Kaiser, who ...

Already spotted into the wild a few times before, the new smartphone appears to have shown its true face only now, in a series of live photos that emerged on pdaclub.pl.The first thing that catches one's attention when seeing the device is that it comes with a very large display, a 4.3-inch WVGA capacitive touch screen that reportedly boasts a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. Many experts believe that the average human brain starts shrinking with old age, and that the trend continues until death. But a new study comes to disagree with them, stating that, in healthy individuals, no such regression can be found, regardless of age. The same paper hints at the fact that the diminishing of the brain starts only when the cognitive abilities of that specific person begin to deteriorate, LiveScience reports. Details of the new investigation are published in the September issue of the respected scientific journal Neuropsychology. “The main issue is that maybe healthy people do not have as much atrophy as we always thought they had,” Maastricht University PhD candidate Saartje Burgmans, also the lead author of the new study, explains. The scientist believes that one of the main reasons why previous studies overestimated the amount by which the old brain started shrinking was because the researchers who conducted them failed to exclude people who wer!
e already beginning to develop conditions such as dementia, or other related illnesses. If they had been separated from the healthy participants, the conclusions of the new research would have been reached a long time ago. “What we found is that when you exclude all those people [who] are suspicious for preclinical disease, an...

In case all goes according to plans, we might expect the device to become available for purchase on the US market at the beginning of October. Kate Gosselin, mother of eight and star of the TLC reality show “Kate & Jon Plus 8,” is not dealing well with fame and the constant media scrutiny, as she admitted so herself in a recent interview. At the second annual Cleveland Women’s Show, Mrs. Gosselin told women in attendance that all she wanted from life was to be happy with her family, but got something else in return, as Us Magazine can confirm. Kate sat down in front of the women in attendance and spilled her heart out, saying this much pressure from the industry, together with the relentless media attention, had gotten her to the end of her rope. She no longer had any control over her life and the thought that she only wanted to act in the children’s best interest only made matters worse in retrospective, the television personality said. “I’ve lost a lot of control in my life. The first part of the tell-all interview Oprah Winfrey conducted on Whitney Houston aired the other day and, as promised, it came as a true shock to all the fans of the singer, who thus got to see the kind of struggle she had to put up for her life in recent years. Among many things and details of her severe drug addiction, the diva also revealed Bobby Brown was her most dangerous “drug” and, at the same time, a very emotionally abusive man who, at one time, spat on her in front of their daughter. With the utmost frankness, Whitney bared her soul to Oprah, saying that, while never physically aggressive, Bobby was extremely abusive from an emotional standpoint because of the kind of control he had over her. However, at one point, things escalated in such a manner that, a bit under the influence, Brown spat in her face in front of their daughter, which made Whitney terribly angry. It was also then that she began to realize things were not OK. “He [Brown] was my drug.!
I didn’t do anything without him. At home, he was very much the father, he was very much the man. He was very much in control. I liked that. When he said something, I listened. The new, extended trailer for “New Moon,” set to drop in theaters on November 20, premiered at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards, after a brief introduction from the three main stars, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart. MTV got to speak to Taylor before the award ceremony and, as it happens, the actor dished out on Pattinson’s ripped abs and some details regarding “Eclipse,” the third installment in the franchise. As fans must already know, Lautner is not the only one to appear sans shirt in the recently released trailer, as Robert also takes his off in a scene in Italy where he’s about to expose himself to sunlight and, thus, to the world, his not-human nature. Initially, reports had it (back when they were still shooting for “New Moon”) that the British heartthrob’s ripped abs and pecs were nothing but the result of plenty of makeup and excellent lighting, but Taylor is now saying that this is actually not true. In his honest opi!

Established astronomical knowledge had it that galaxies with two nuclei were very rare. Experts believed that small galaxies had one made up of a star cluster, whereas the more massive ones had a black hole at their cores. But a new study comes to prove that the double-nucleus galaxy is, in fact, not that rare of an occurrence. In the research, which analyzed 50 regular galaxies, 12 were found to have both a black hole and a star cluster at their cores. A paper detailing the finds appears in the latest issue of the scientific journal Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, ScienceDaily reports. In charge of the new investigation were Swinburne University of Technology (SUT) Associate Professor Alister Graham and Dr. Lee Spitler. Much to their amazement, they discovered that it was not at all uncommon for regular galaxies to have a black hole at their cores, as well as a cluster containing up to ten million stars around them. The presence of such a significant n!
umber of double-nucleus galaxies increases the chance of some peculiar astronomical phenomena occurring, Graham reveals. One example consists of black holes beginning to consume nearby stars. “When stars get too close to massive black holes, the gravitational attraction is such that they can be devoured. As the months go by, it becomes painfully obvious to all those involved with getting Spirit out of its predicament that it isn't going to be an easy task. Though they knew from day one that it was going to be very difficult to remove the rover from the loose patch of Martian soil called Troy, engineers at NASA's jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), in Pasadena, California, are now beginning to reach the limits of their testing abilities. Therefore, they have now created a computer model, in which they feed all data collected from the two test rovers that simulate Spirit's conditions in Troy. The detailed computer model of the rover's mobility is meant to augment the test drives themselves. The researchers constantly add data collected from the sandbox robots, in an attempt to increase the simulation's accuracy. The main target of these efforts is to pinpoint the limits of Spirit's mobility on the Red Planet. “The computer modeling will allow us to connect the results from te!

Auxiliary maternity nurse Astrid Skreosen got fed up one day with all the bedsheets that her maternity wards had. None was too good to fit the actual beds on which women gave birth, and they were also not absorbent enough to cope with a restless birth process. So, she was referred to SINTEF Materials and Chemistry expert Per Stenstad, with whom she devised a new type of material, just one millimeter thick, but able to absorb large amounts of wastes and blood, AlphaGalileo reports. “Restless women in labor and unstable mats made problems for everyone. None of these underlays fitted the delivery beds, and we were wading in fetal fluids and blood. I was just as irritated by people who said that we shouldn’t complain, but just make the best of things,” the nurse says of the reasons that drove her to take matters into her own hands, and stop complaining to those hierarchically above her. She decided to team up with SINTEF after some unpleasant experiences with inventor a!

In this case, the challenge was that the sheet must be only a millimeter thick, without letting dampness pass through it. Experts at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), in Pasadena, California, have recently released a new report, detailing the condition of the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO). Having suffered its fourth glitch this year, the craft is not exactly in the best shape of its life, mission planners say. Analysis of the latest safe-mode instance has revealed a vulnerability to the effects of subsequent events. At this point, the team is working on removing the vulnerability, and also on analyzing the chain of events that this year led to either the MRO rebooting its computer, or switching to its backup one. “The team is keeping the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter in a precautionary 'safe' mode, with healthy power, temperatures and communications, while continuing analysis and precautions subsequent to the latest rebooting, on August 26th. Science observations will likely not resume for several weeks while this preventive care is the mission's priority,” a press release on JPL's !
website says. Already in its mission extension, the craft has considerably contributed to the advancement of knowledge about Mars, and the team is not about to let go of hope. According to the latest available analysis, there is a remote possibility that the craft can be damaged beyond repair. This could only happen if the two computer system...

Astronomers and physicists analyzing the data relayed back by the Magnetospheric Imaging instrument (MIMI) aboard the Cassini spacecraft have recently discovered a new, transient radiation belt around Saturn. Located some 337,000 kilometers away from the planet's core, the belt is located roughly around the moon Dione. Dr. Elias Roussos will present the discovery today, September 14th, at the European Planetary Science Congress, in Potsdam, Germany, AlphaGalileo reports. In addition to the Van Allen radiation belt that surrounds our planet, similar formations have also been identified around the largest planets in our solar system â€" Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. Thus far, experts have only managed to observe variabilities in radiation fields around our planet and on Jupiter, so the new study is the first to add Saturn to the list. The new find was only made possible by the fact that we have had Cassini in orbit around the gas giant for the past five years. Astro!
nomers explain that only a comparative, ongoing analysis can show variations such as the ones Cassini recorded. “The most dramatic changes have been observed as sudden increases in the intensity of high energy charged particles in the inner part of Saturn's magnetosphere, in the vicinity of the moons Dione and Tethys. Some 700 light-years away from our solar system, researchers identified two exoplanets, orbiting their parent star, and influencing each other in the process. The star, dubbed HAT-P-13, is orbited by the planets HAT-P-13b and HAT-P-13c, each of which exerts a gravitational pull on the other. Now, scientists plan to use one of these bodies to effectively “X-ray” the other, and determine if it has a rocky core, and, if so, just how big it is. The larger, more massive HAT-P-13c will be used as the “mobile laboratory,” as astronomers peer at the inner workings of HAT-P-13b, Wired reports. “C is allowing us to look inside B. X-raying the planet taps into these esoteric theories that were worked out in the 1930s, but hadn’t been picked up by the extrasolar planet community,” University of California in Santa Cruz (UCSC) astronomer Greg Loughlin says. Glamour magazine literally broke the mold in the September issue and, what’s more surprising, it probably did so without even aiming to. Page 194 included, suffocated by fashion and beauty ads with size-0 models, a small photo of a woman who looked just like the kind of girl you could meet when walking down the street or running errands. According to Glamour and its recent poll among guys, it’s precisely this that makes Lizzi Miller, the woman in question, so hot for all men. Lizzi is 20 years old and, at 1.80m, weighs about 80kg, which is far from overweight but, at the same time, also very far from what the fashion industry expects from a model. Therefore, she has no place in high fashion, but works as a plus-size model â€" as it happens, as such, she has just caught the attention of the entire world. The photo in question, the one that even made it to CNN, shows her wearing nothing but a bright smile and the utmost confidence in her body, including the small roll !

She doesn’t look sick, is not breakable-thin, is happy and gorgeous, but, most importantly, she knows she’s beautiful. Because of all these, she seems accessibl...

HTTP:: Redistribution of Fat Through Surgery for a Fuller Bust
--------
A new type of cosmetic surgery will be offered to women in the United Kingdom next year, a procedure that aims to relocate troublesome fat from certain parts of the body to the chest, where it is used for a better definition and more volume. The procedure is estimated to cost £8,000 when it becomes available and it is said to have more lasting and satisfying results than the classic option of implants, the Daily Mail says. According to leading surgeons who are now supervising volunteers who agreed to have the surgery five years ago, the results are nothing short of extraordinary. The augmented breasts have a more natural feel and look to them, while the intervention also helps women rid themselves of unwanted fat from areas like the abdomen or thighs. Moreover, they say, the problem that is common with implants (which need to be replaced after a while in many cases) will not appear with this procedure. “This is the most exciting breakthrough in cosmetic and reconstru!
ctive surgery that I have seen over the last two decades. It amounts to two beneficial procedures in one â€" taking unwanted fat from one or two areas of a patient’s body and transferring it to the breast area.” Mel Braham, chairman of the Harley Medical Group, which will offer the procedure, tells the ...

HTTP:: BNL Devises Precise Zinc Transport Protein Viewing Method
--------
When analyzing things at the nanoscale, every bit of extra resolution counts. This was made obvious by a new research, conducted at the US Department of Energy's (DOE) Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL), when experts managed to get a tenth of a nanometer improvement in their studies of proteins. While this may seem insignificant at first, it may very well be the difference between seeing where atoms are located inside zinc transport proteins and understanding how they interact. The new work does not only offer a better view of this specific protein, in terms of structure, but also suggests a mechanism that the tiny structure uses in order to sense and regulate zinc. Further knowledge of this could help scientists and healthcare experts devise new treatments for conditions such as seizures, diabetes, and, possibly, even Alzheimer's disease, in the future. Details of the BNL achievement can be found in the September 13th issue of the respected scientific journal Nature St!
ructural & Molecular Biology, e! Science News reports. “Our goal is to reveal atomic interactions in a protein structure to understand the chemistry that underlies the protein's biological function. With this structure, we can begin to understand the mechanism of zinc transport at a chemical level,” the leader o...

HTTP:: Polymer Solar Cells Get First High Res 3D Image
--------
In a new study published online in the September 13th issue of the journal Nature Materials, experts at the Eindhoven University of Technology (EUT) and the University of Ulm announced that they had managed to get high-resolution, 3D images of the inside of a polymer solar cell for the first time. Knowing the nanoscale structure of these polymers is vital towards understanding the way the solar cells act, and how much energy they output, the team says.At this point, polymer solar cells are still far behind their silicon counterparts, as far as performances go. But their main advantage is the fact that they can be printed in a roll-to-roll process, very fast and in large quantities. This ability that they have can potentially make them highly cost-effective. They can also be incorporated in vehicles, clothes and other objects, but they first have to be brought to a higher performance level. And this is where the new, 3D images come in. Polymer solar cells are generally made !
up of metal oxide nanoparticles and various types of polymers. When the mixture is illuminated by sunlight, the interface between the two compounds generates charges. But controlling the exact nanoscale structure of the interface is very hard to do. Intimate mixing of the two is very effective in terms of...
