The GQ Men of the Year 2009 Awards gala was held last night at The Royal Opera House in London, England, and, while a celebration of male accomplishment in several fields, including showbiz, television and politics, it was the ladies who stole the thunder on the red carpet. As limousines started pulling up in front of the venue, the biggest female stars of the moment took to the red carpet to dazzle the media and fans with their choice of outfits for the evening. Actress Eva Mendes, who was just recently in Italy, at the Venice Film Festival, promoting her latest film, “The Bad Lieutenant,” brought true Hollywood glamor to the event. Decked in a floor-length, purple gown that also had a sparkly, long trail, the actress was one of the few women to choose what one may call a “formal” outfit for the event. Not that it lacked the wow factor or anything, it is being said, since the gown was made with bits of sheer fabric that allowed a glimpse of Mendes’ leg and thig!
