HTTP:: Motorola Sholes to Go Official as Motorola Droid

The second mobile phone that Motorola is expected to launch on the market running under Google's Android operating system has been spotted in the wild as the Motorola Sholes or Tao, and now there are some reports that suggest it might actually be named Motorola Droid when it will hit Verizon's airwaves later this year. The fact that mobile phones come to the market with different names than the ones that leak from their makers is something you all are aware of, so it might not come as a surprise that Verizon and Motorola will jointly announce officially that Motorola Droid will come with Android for Big Red's users. According to the news, we won't have to wait too long before the handset becomes official, as the two companies plan on introducing it to the world as soon as next week. Whether that will happen at the CTIA conference that will kick off in San Diego on October 7, or at Motorolaâ™s own developer conference, MOTODEV, also slated for next week, is unknown at th!

However, TheStreet, which brought the rumor to light, says that a Motorola representative, who declined to comment, stated that the company announced previously that it would make an announcement in the coming weeks.
