Reports have revealed that a hacker has been able to produce a jailbreak tool for iPhone OS 3.1.2, the latest software update for iPhone and iPod touch users from Apple. The tool â€" blackra1n â€" can effectively jailbreak any iPhone or iPod touch device, but does not unlock iPhones for use with non-supported carriers. Softpedia doesn’t encourage jailbreaking. An update on the iPhone Dev Team’s blog revealed last week that users enjoying the benefits of a jailbroken / unlocked iPhone should not update to OS 3.1.2. The team warned that the PwnageTool and redsn0w were not yet compatible with 3.1.2 (the situation remaining unchanged to this moment), while there was no estimated release time for compatible tools (and there still isn’t).
