Wireless carrier Sprint announced on Thursday via the social networking site Twitter that, in association with National Audubon Society, it has released a set of new downloadable bird call ringtones. There are 28 new melodic such calls included in the package, like the Field Sparrow, the Red-bellied Woodpecker and the Black-capped Chickadee. According to the carrier, the new ringtones can be downloaded by its customers either by texting BIRD to 1111 or by heading to its website and going to the Sprint Digital Lounge. Furthermore, the new bird song ringtones are meant to help raise awareness on Audubon’s mission, which includes the protection and conservation of birds and their natural habitats. The new call ringtones are available for download for a wide range of mobile phones that can be purchased from Sprint, such as the eco-friendly Samsung Reclaim. “We recognize that protecting bird populations is vital to the overall health of our environment, especially as bird!
