Windows 7 has been a remarkably polished operating system even as early as Beta Build 7000 and Release Candidate Build 7100 development milestones. But even after the platform was released to manufacturing, Microsoft confirmed that there were additional rough corners to be softened, and that it would do so with what the company referred to as future releases. This is the case of incorrect shutdown reason codes that are written to System Event Log (SEL) in scenarios involving user-initiated shutdown actions from computers running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2. âœThe System Event Log is the database of events in the baseboard management controller (BMC) hardware. The SEL adapter conveys these events to the operating system,â the company noted. âœMicrosoft will address the problem in future releases,â reads the message from the Redmond company associated with the erroneous shutdown reason codes in SEL. No word from the software giant on what âœfuture releasesâ!
