Hearts of Iron 3 has again dominated my evening, as I try to encircle as many Russian slow infantry divisions as possible in Russia. I have a couple of problems. I invaded in 1940, after taking over Poland, France, enough of Republican Spain to hold a defensive line, Yugoslavia and a very Communist loving Romania. Because I made some stupid calls related to terrain, speed of advance and supply availability, the year was mostly wasted and I did not manage to reach any of the big Soviet towns like Stalingrad or Moscow.Leningrad has fallen but that is more of a moral victory than a strategically significant one. And now, with the weather getting just good enough to again commence operations, I am considering turning my divisions over to the Artificial Intelligence at a theater level to see how it fares against the Russian hordes.More seasoned players might see the idea of letting the AI do all the fighting, with the player just pointing it to objectives and assigning a stance,!
