He was a regular presence on the party scene, having long crossed over from being just a disc-jokey to a bona fide celebrity. 36-year-old Adam Goldstein, generally known as DJ AM, was found dead in his apartment this Friday. His death has already been ruled an overdose, after police discovered drug paraphernalia on the scene and learned that he had been struggling with severe depression, NBC New York informs. Sources are telling the media that Goldstein, who was once engaged to be married to Nicole Richie and whose friends included anyone from Paris Hilton to Travis Barker and Ryan Seacrest, had not been seen or heard of in days before his body was found. Friends became so worried about him, knowing as they did that he was suffering from depression, that they eventually went up to his apartment, where they found him unresponsive. DJ AM was pronounced dead on the arrival of the paramedics, with the cause of death being listed as an overdose. Ironically enough, Goldstein !
had been sober for nine years in a row and was even in talks with MTV to start working on a reality show, called “Gone Too Far” and meant to help young people overcome their addictions.
