Social networking has been known to get people in trouble with the law from time to time, but most of the times it's for something done outside of the social network itself. MySpace status updates have been known to get people arrested for revealing details related to various illegal acts, and Facebook photos have done the same. But, this time, it's a Facebook feature, “poking” to be more specific, that has gotten a woman in Tennessee arrested. Shannon D. Jackson from Hendersonville, Tennessee, was arrested for violating a restriction order issued against her. The order stipulates that the 36-year-old woman is to make no attempts to contact another unnamed woman from Hendersonville meaning “no telephoning, contacting or otherwise communicating with the petitioner.” While she managed to avoid the usual communication tools, she apparently believed she could get away with just a gentile “poke.” The police obviously thought otherwise, after being alerted by the !
woman holding the petition. Jackson was arrested on September 25, according to the Tennessean. She is now liable to serving almost a year in prison and paying a fine of $2,500 and is facing a hearing later this month. The “poke” feature by itself is pretty harmless, despite its name that may ...
