HTTP:: Verizon Cuts Smartphone Prices to 99
--------
Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless, the largest operator in the country, has recently operated some price cuts for its smartphones. Following the move, its subscribers can now get some of the greatest high-end handsets for under $100, except for two devices, namely the recently launched BlackBerry Tour and the Samsung Saga. According to some voices over the Web, the price cuts might suggest only one thing: the wireless carrier is getting ready to release new smartphones on the market and is trying to clear some inventory in the process. Customers will be those to benefit a lot from the new offer, which places almost all existing smartphones in Verizon's lineup at the $99 price point, upon the signing of a two-year contract agreement. It seems that some of the handsets already rumored to be heading towards Verizon might indeed become available in the near future. As such, the HTC Touch Pro2 might soon emerge to replace the older Touch Pro, which has seen its price drop!
from $419 to $99. In addition, the BlackBerry Storm 2 should be on its way as well, though we might not see it until November, it seems. On the other hand, the new prices might also reflect the recent drop seen by Apple's iPhone 3G, which went down to $99 as soon as the iPhone 3GS became available for purchase. One way or the other...
