Apple (along with US carrier AT&T) is widely believed to finally enable MMS, and other iPhone-related functions, sometime during September. New reports say the announcement will occur at a yet-unconfirmed September 7-9 event said to be focused on iPods and iTunes. AppModo reports that “the news leak of Apple holding an event the week of September 7th, with September 9th being rumored as the exact date” has renewed speculation on announcements to come. According to the report, those include “a refresh to their iPod line, iTunes Version 9.0 information with social networking, initial OS X Snow Leopard sales figures [...], Cocktail â€" a multimedia application, as well as an availability announcement of MMS for the iPhone...” Softpedia reported last week that an AT&T insider had confirmed to an iPhone-focused website that Apple was planning to release OS 3.1 software update for iPhone and iPod touch in September.
