The latest version of the Desktop Optimization Pack offered by Microsoft is tailored to the company’s most recent iteration of the Windows operating system. While Windows 7 is scheduled for general availability on October 22nd, the Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack (MDOP) 2009 R2 was already offered to customers on October 20th. However, not all users will get their hands on MDOP R2. Fact is that the suite of applications is exclusively available to Microsoft’s Software Assurance customers via Volume Licensing. “If you are an MDOP customer, you can download MDOP 2009 R2 through Microsoft Volume Licensing Site (MVLS). Such is the case of over 5,000 council workers who fell for a spoof campaign pushed by biscuit maker Fox to raise awareness and test the safety of biscuit consumption at work, the Telegraph informs.nnFox came up with the idea for the campaign when brainstorming for the Rocky bar, a new product. It was, of course, not meant to be taken seriously, but the £3 million invested in the campaign was money put to very good use, as many fell for it. For it, Fox set up a fictitious British Biscuit Advisory Board that made surveys and estimates of the risk council workers were exposed to in terms of biscuit consumption while at the office. But as time progressed, their expectations weren't met and by July sales fell by 40 percent and profits by 60. Now, Bloomberg expects Nintendo to revisit their predictions regarding total income, but to also announce their first profit decline since 2004 when they launched the DS platform. Bloomberg put together the predictions of ten analysts and the average result was that Nintendo's net income would fall by 11 percent, down to ¥249.3 billion, or $2.5 billion. These numbers are expected to materialize by the end of the fiscal year, the end of March 2010. In Satoru Kikuchi’s opinion, Nintendo's regress is caused by "sluggish sales in the first half [of the year], the price cut for the Wii and currency-related impact. Nintendo may cut its profit projection about 30!

Leading telecommunications solutions provider ZTE announced on Monday that it opened the gates of its LTE (Long Time Evolution) testing laboratory at its United States headquarters in Richardson, Texas. According to the company, the new lab is aimed at enabling it to demonstrate and test its own CDMA/LTE platform, which is expected to offer carriers the possibility to deliver LTE services to the US market. At the same time, ZTE also announced that its platform could offer it the possibility to deliver FTP download rates of around 52Mbps at 10 MHz bandwidth. The Miss California USA organization is now counter-suing Prejean, asking for the $5,200 it gave her to get implants, E! Online reports. Before taking part in the Miss USA competition, K2 Productions, which directs the Miss California USA pageant, gave Prejean $5,200 to up her cup size by means of implants. One condition for this was not to speak about it publicly, which clause was, of course, violated the instant she took part in the Miss USA pageant in the swimsuit competition. However, even that could have been overlooked, the lawsuit alleges, if only Prejean had acted appropriately, meaning in such a way so as not to force organizers to ask her for her crown back.
