In what is a rare occasion for the company behind the Mac operating system, Apple has issued a press release announcing that App Store Downloads have topped 1.5 billion in a year since its debut. “Apple today announced that customers have downloaded more than 1.5 billion applications in just one year from its revolutionary App Store, the largest applications store in the world,†the company’s official report reads. “The App Store is also growing at an incredible pace with more than 65,000 apps and more than 100,000 developers in the iPhone Developer Program.†A statement coming from Apple’s CEO, Steve Jobs, not only confirms the feat, but also the fact that he is actively performing his CEO duties once again, after his six-month-long medical leave. “The App Store is like nothing the industry has ever seen before in both scale and quality,†Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO, says. “With 1.5 billion apps downloaded, it is going to be very hard for others to catch!
