Facebook is huge â€" with over 300 million users it's one of the largest web sites in the world â€" yet it still brings in only a 'modest' $500 million per year (an estimated figure) and has just managed to reach actual profitability. The social network had the kind of funding to ensure that it didn't desperately need to generate a revenue and it also decided to de-emphasize ads in favor of other revenue streams. One possible earner is the Facebook gift shop, which has recently started allowing third parties to sell their wares and has added three more partners to the short list over the weekend. The third-party program was announced more than a month ago with just four companies, American Greetings, RealGifts, GreetBeatz and someecards, as the initial partners. However, the last two along with JibJab only recently started actually selling their products in the store.
