Electronic Arts is announcing that BioWare, one of the most important development studios that it owns, has partnered up with Tor Books, one of the biggest publishers of fantasy titles on the market, in order to publish a novel set in the Dragon Age universe, called The Calling. David Gaider, who has a long pedigree in game development and has been the lead writer on Dragon Age: Origins, has penned the new novel, which is set to be released on October 13, 2009 for the price of 14.99 dollars. The Calling is not the first novel set in the Dragon Age universe. In March of this year, those who were interested could pick up Dragon Age: The Stolen Throne, a novel also written by Gaider. The aim of the books is to tell the stories of significant characters from the upcoming role-playing game and to create a background for the world of the title, allowing players to have some idea of the way the society works before jumping into the video game.
